No. 2 Golden West hosts No. 4 Riverside in Southern California Championship

A spot in the state championship is on the line this Saturday (Dec. 4) when No. 2 seed Golden West College hosts No. 4 Riverside City College in the 2021 Southern California Championship. The game is set for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Golden West Stadium in Huntington Beach.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. Tickets can be purchased online through HomeTown Ticketing.

The game will also be live streamed by SoCalCollegeSports on its YouTube channel.

Riverside routed the South's top seed and undefeated Ventura College, 41-21, in the Southern California semifinals on Saturday to advance to its fifth-consecutive SCFA championship game. Golden West defeated third-seeded Canyons, 20-10, on the other half of the southern bracket to earn its championship bid.

The Tigers (9-2) will look to reach their second-consecutive CCCAA State Championship, while the Rustlers (11-0) aim to advance to their first-ever state championship in program history.

Riverside and Golden West met in Week 4 of the regular season. Golden West bested the Tigers, 37-20, behind a high-flying offense that featured strong quarterback play leading to 456 yards of total offense (6.2 yards-per-play). They snapped the Tigers 22-game regular-season winning streak and 16-game winning streak.

The winner of Saturday's contest will host the CCCAA State Championship on Dec. 11. In the north, undefeated City College of San Francisco (11-0) hosts College of San Mateo (10-1) in the NCFC regional championship. That game also kicks off at noon and will be streamed live online on by NorCal Sports TV.
