No.22 Ranked Citrus College could not contain No.8 ranked Golden West College in a 45-7 loss on Saturday night.

Citrus College falls to 2-3, 0-2 in conference on the season while Golden West College improves to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference games.

The Owls went three-and-out on their first two drives to start the game as the Rustlers capitalized by scoring on their first two drives to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Citrus could not seem to find their rhythm in the 2nd quarter either as they allowed Golden West to score three more touchdowns before halftime, going down 35-0.

The Owls showed some fight to begin the 3rd quarter as they forced three and outs on the Rustlers first two drives but could not find the endzone. Golden West scored late in the 3rd quarter to take a 42-0 lead.

Citrus put together their best drive in the 4th quarter, a 12-play 72-yard drive led by quarterback Koy Riggin that ended with a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Sean Persson to make the score 42-7.

The Rustlers added a field goal on their ensuing drive to make the score 45-7 which was the final score of the game.

Although the Owls did not get the outcome they were hoping for, there were some bright spots on defense as Jordan Garcia, Hunter Corbin, Dominic Rausch, and Anthony Sanchez all recorded one sack. Kyle Ferm recorded an interception on top of his 10 tackles while Jordan Garcia led the Owls with 12 tackles.

On offense the Owls were led by Koy Riggin who threw for 104 yards and a touchdown. Sean Persson led Citrus College in receiving with 58 yards on five receptions and one touchdown.

Citrus College will have an extra week following next week's bye as their October 19th matchup with San Bernardino Valley College has been canceled.

The Owls will be back in action for their Homecoming game on Saturday, October 26th as they host Cerritos College at 6 p.m.
