
The San Diego Mesa College Olympians continued their undefeated streak with a dominant 22-7 win over the previously unbeaten Golden West College Rustlers, improving their record to 3-0. The Olympians' defense stole the show, holding the high-scoring Rustlers offense to a mere seven points, contrasting their season average of 32 points per game.
Quarterback Jax Leatherwood once again led the offensive charge, completing 22 of 33 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Dazure Paggett was Leatherwood's favorite target, racking up 71 receiving yards. Jalil Tucker and Kendall Ayersman found the end zone, securing a touchdown reception apiece.
Standout performances from Jayden Cortell and Christian Mota anchored the defensive unit. Cortell led the team with nine total tackles, including seven solo and 2.5 tackles for loss. Mota wreaked havoc in the Rustlers' backfield, contributing five tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss.
This victory marks the Olympians' first win over the Rustlers in five years, with their previous win coming in 2019. The Rustlers entered the game ranked #3 by the Junior College Athletic Bureau.
