COACHES CORNER… SAN BERNARDINO 2016
JAGS BEAT SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE 33-12. JAGS move to 8-0
The JAGS went into San Bernardino, one of the toughest places in Southern California and came out with a crucial win against the Wolverines who were 2-0 in league as were the JAGS. A very physical game was dominated by the JAGS defense who kept constant pressure on the QB for SBVC. The JAGS continue to battle in week 9 with an 8-0 record.
OFFENSE: The JAG offense sputtered most of the night while turning the ball over 6 times… 3 on the first 3 possessions. Sophomore MIKE GLASS (McCluer North HS / St. Louis Missouri) was the difference maker this week with two rushing TD's and a TD pass to freshman WR MARQUISE WILLIAMS (Fr. Lopez HS, Daytona Beach FL).
DEFENSE: Our defense took the game over from the get go with an 86 yard interception return for a TD by SERGIO AYON (Otay Ranch HS). With 6 sacks on the night led by sophomore DL RASHEED FARHA (Otay Ranch HS) spent the majority of the night. While the offense struggled to find ways to move the ball our defense was on the attack.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Sophomore kicker AEDON JOHNSON (Eastlake HS) hit 4 extra points, a field goal and two key punts on the night.
Week 9 has the JAGS traveling to College of the Desert 4-4 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Both rushed for over 200 yds and the offense overall for over 300 yds. Freshman WR DAVIN REYNOLDS (Duquene HS) caught a 30 yard TD pass. DEFENSE :
The defense set the offense up with a short field the majority of the night with great play. #33 freshman ZYAIR VELASQUES (Hoover HS) SYAIR started the game tempo off on the first play of the game with a monster hit on the VVC RB who fumbled into ZYAIR's hands for the JAG first drive to start inside the 10 yard line. The leading tackler on the night was sophomore safety #2 DONNELL PLEASANT (Lincoln HS). DONNELL had 8 total tackles on the night.

A total team tackle on the first kickoff of the night set the tempo for the rest of the game. Led by freshman #20 ETHAN WILLIAMS (Bonita Vista HS) made the initial hit and the remaining JAGS finished it off.
