PANTHER FOOTBALL CLOSES '23 REGULAR SEASON WITH 48-7 HOME WIN
The Chaffey Panthers closed out an undefeated regular season today with a 48-7 win over Victor Valley College. The team clinched the American Metro Conference title last Saturday with a win over Santa Ana.
Against VVC, the Panthers were virtually unstoppable completing seven touchdowns in 11 drives.
Starting quarterback Dereun Dortch had a career high 313 yards against the Rams with 21 completed passes. Jayson Cortes shone bright with 131 yards rushing but it was a 4th quarter 64 yard run by Darrin Thomas that had the crowd screaming. Thomas scored the first TD of the game off a 20 yard pass from Dortch to put the Panthers on the board 7-0. Dortch and William Davis followed that up in the 2nd with a 55 yard crowd pleaser.
Saadite Green Jr and Syrano Ware led the Panther defense with five tackles each. Chaffey's defense held the Rams to a net 153 yards total.
The Panthers will compete in an American League bowl game the week of November 19th. Details to be announced.
