Owls Bounce Back Big Against Huskies

Citrus College Football traveled to East Los Angeles College to pick up their first conference win by defeating the Huskies 38-10
Citrus College improves to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference on the season, while East Los Angeles College moves to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in conference games.
The Owls scored on the game's opening drive with a 41-yard field goal from Lucas "Maui" Froemel to go up 3-0. The Huskies answered by scoring a touchdown on their first drive to take a 7-3 lead and then followed up with a field goal on their second drive to go up 10-3 early in the second quarter.
After going down 10-3 the Owls responded with a 12-play, 77-yard touchdown drive capped off by a six-yard rushing touchdown by Jamahl Wilson. Citrus forced ELAC to punt on their ensuing drive and capitalized with another impressive scoring drive, this time a ten-play, 92-yard drive ending with a Hakim Haliburton 11-yard touchdown run to go up 17-10 before halftime.
After the Owls' defense made big plays to stop the Huskies offense to open the second half, Citrus' offense put together a scoring drive which ended with a Jake Denerson finding Joseph Enriquez for a 27-yard touchdown giving the Owls a commanding 24-10 lead.
The Owls would score twice in the fourth quarter, a Jake Denerson two-yard rushing touchdown and a 20-yard touchdown reception for Sean Persson from Jake Denerson making the final score 38-10.
Citrus College was led by Jake Denerson with 19 completions for 235 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in his second start of the season.
The Owls' dominant rushing attack was led by Jamahl Wilson who racked up 132 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries. Hakim Haliburton added 63 yards and one touchdown on his 12 carries, while Emmanuel Mogbolu had 20 yards on two carries.
Sean Persson led the Owls in receiving for the second straight game with 79 yards and one touchdown on his four receptions. Ridge Christlieb gained 61 yards on his four receptions, Joseph Enriquez racked up 38 yards and one touchdown on his three receptions, while Brayden Austin caught two passes for 34 yards.
The Owls' defense stepped up big in the win as they limited the Huskies to only 180 yards of total offense and recorded five sacks.
Hunter Corbin led the Owls with 10 total tackles, one for a loss. Jordan Garcia, Keenan Eck, Thomas White and Jadakiss Vaokakala all recorded a sack in the game while defensive backs Jaylen Mooring, Ethan Acosta, Donovan Perez, Christian Sampson, and Phillip Bangura all recorded a pass breakup in the dominant defensive performance.
Citrus College will return home next Saturday, November 9th for a conference matchup with Orange Coast College at 1 p.m.
