Football loses the turnover battle and game to Ventura
Coming off their bye week, the 2-3 Raiders had aspirations of breaking their 3 game conference losing streak to cross county rival Ventura and bringing back the Citrus Cup back to Moorpark. In the end, it was the Raiders with 5 turnovers that proved too much to overcome.
The host opened up up the scoring with 5:50 left in the first quarter. The Raiders came right and put together a 10 play, 70 yard drive that ended in QB Luke Rasmussen 1 yard plunge. The PAT was wide left. 7-6 Ventura :40 left in 1st quarter. Ventura would add a TD and FG to close out the half leading 17-6.
The Raiders kicked off to VC to open the 2nd half. On 3rd and 5 for the Pirates, Da'Vaughn Robinson picked off a tipped passed and rumbled down to the one. From there Rasmussen took it in for the score. The 2pt conversion failed and the Raiders trailed 17-12. At that point the Raider miscues started and when it looked like the Raiders were turning the corner, another costly turnover. In the end, the final score was 37-12 VC
Kadyn Parr was 19 of 35 with 217 yards and 1 INT. Jacob Stewart had 5 receptions for 38 yards. Jason Hawes totaled 21 tackles, Nolan Story had 17 tackles.
