
Riverside Takes Down Fullerton
No. 2-ranked Riverside City College closed the regular season with a 41-22 victory over No. 18-ranked Fullerton College Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 9-1 on the year and finish with a perfect 7-0 National – Southern League mark. The Hornets finish with a 5-5 overall, 3-4 conference record.
Riverside finished with 417 total offensive yards, including 278 passing yards and 139 rushing yards.
Brady Jones – who leads the State in passing yards per game (371.8) and passing touchdowns (42) – finished 21-for-36 with 278 passing yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Owens got on the end of one of those touchdowns, while Dominic Cox also caught a touchdown pass from Jones.
Jonathan Marshall, Jr. and Jones also ran in six points for the Tigers, who saw Luis Marin be perfect on the day: 5-for-5 on point-after-touchdown attempts and 2-for-2 on field goal attempts.
Defensively, Saipeti Maiava, Jr. led the Tigers with 10 total tackles, including one for loss, and a pass breakup. David Lene followed with nine total tackles, while Tayven Anderson had eight tackles, including one for a loss of 21 yards, a forced fumble and an interception.
Riverside shifts its focus to postseason now and will host the first round of the SCFA playoffs on Nov. 30 at 1 p.m.
