The Renegades Tame the Bulldogs on Homecoming Night

BAKERSFIELD, CA - In an exhilarating Homecoming matchup at Memorial Stadium, the Bakersfield College football team outlasted the Allan Hancock College Bulldogs in a thrilling 48-35 victory. The Renegades' dynamic offense, led by quarterback Vincent Igoa, overcame an early deficit and powered Bakersfield to a commanding second-half performance.

The game began with Allan Hancock taking control with a touchdown that gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead after a 12-play, 77-yard drive. However, BC responded quickly when freshman wide receiver Jacoby Pointer turned a short pass from Igoa into a 74-yard touchdown, evening the score at 7-7.

Allan Hancock struck again late in the first quarter with a 1-yard plunge to lead 14-7, but the Renegades tied the game once more in the second quarter, thanks to a 46-yard touchdown strike from Igoa to wide receiver Jalen Richmond.

The third quarter saw Bakersfield explode offensively, scoring 20 points in a span of seven minutes. Igoa connected with freshman Ja'Daniels Nettles on a 45-yard touchdown pass then found Pointer for a 7-yard score. Nettles capped off a 68-yard drive with a 3-yard rushing touchdown to put the Renegades ahead 34-14. Despite a 3-yard touchdown run by Allan Hancock to close out the quarter, they couldn't stop Bakersfield's momentum.

The Bulldogs fought back in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 34-28 after a 24-yard run and a 12-yard touchdown pass. However, a 1-yard touchdown by David Smith and an electrifying 86-yard touchdown run by Pointer sealed the victory for BC.

Igoa was nearly flawless, throwing for 319 yards and four touchdowns, while Pointer delivered a standout performance with 121 rushing yards, 100 receiving yards, and three total touchdowns. Bakersfield racked up 505 total yards, including 186 on the ground, compared to Allan Hancock's 428.

With the win, the Renegades improved to 4-2 on the season. Up next, BC will travel to Moorpark next Saturday, October 26th.
