No. 3 Ventura knocks off No. 2 Fullerton, No. 4 Riverside upsets No. 1 Mt. SAC; Pirates to host Tigers for SCFA Championship on Dec. 2

No. 3-seeded Ventura College will host No. 4 Riverside City College in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Championship on Dec. 2 after the two squads came away with victories on Saturday in the SoCal semifinals.

Ventura (8-3) was a 27-24 winner in Fullerton, shocking the Hornets (10-1) to hand them their first loss of the season. | BOX SCORE

Ezekiel Savage's 3-yard touchdown run with 13 seconds remaining in the third quarter proved to be the game-winner as the Pirates' defense held Fullerton scoreless in the fourth.

VC returns to the SCFA Championship for the first time since 2018 when it also faced Riverside. Ventura came out on top 31-21 to end the Tigers' season.

Riverside (10-1) rallied late in its SoCal semifinal to knock out the Mounties by a final score of 51-48 to give Mt. SAC (10-1) its first loss of the season as well. | BOX SCORE

Ayinde Bankole's 2-yard TD run with 27 seconds left in the contest capped a final 9-play, 73-yard game-winning drive for the Tigers. Mt. SAC attempted a potential game-tying 57-yard field goal but came up short as time expired.

Riverside is making its seventh straight SCFA Championship game appearance.

The winner of the contest will host either College of San Mateo or American River College from Northern California in the 3C2A State Championship on Dec. 9.
