Long-time Antelope Valley head coach Perry Jehlicka steps down
LANCASTER, CA – Antelope Valley College Football Head Coach Perry Jehlicka has resigned from his coaching position, college officials announced today.
Jehlicka will remain a valued part of the campus community, continuing his role as a full-time professor in the Kinesiology/Athletics Department.
Jehlicka led the AVC Football program since 2007, fostering athletic excellence and positively impacting the lives of student-athletes on and off the field, said Dr. Ben Partee, Interim Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics. Under his leadership, his teams achieved multiple conference championships, and a bowl appearance, reflecting his dedication to both athletic and academic success.
"Coach Jehlicka has made an indelible mark on our football program, and we are grateful for his years of service and leadership," Dr. Partee said. "We look forward to seeing him continue his commitment to our students in the classroom, where his expertise and passion for kinesiology will continue to benefit our community."
In his ongoing role as a professor, Jehlicka will continue to contribute to the Kinesiology Department, bringing his extensive knowledge of physical activity, health and recreation to students pursuing careers in fitness, health and recreation.
"I am grateful for Professor Jehlicka's creative work in curriculum and as department chair for Kinesiology and Athletics, and I'm grateful that he will continue leading in this capacity," said Dr. Jennifer Zellet, Superintendent/President of AVC.
The search for a new head football coach will commence immediately, with the goal of building on the strong foundation that Coach Jehlicka established.
