State Championship berth on the line; No. 1 Mt. SAC hosts No. 2 Riverside in SCFA Championship

The top two teams will battle for the 2024 Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Championship as No. 1 Mt. San Antonio College hosts No. 2 Riverside City College on Saturday, Dec. 7. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut.

Mt. SAC enters the contest with an 11-0 record and is two wins away from a perfect season.

The Mounties handled El Camino College 48-24 last week in its Southern California semifinal. Running back Devin Miles had 23 carries for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was named the game's most valuable player.

Miles currently leads the SCFA with 15 rushing touchdowns while his 115.4 yards per game average ranks second.

Riverside is 10-1 with its lone loss (37-36) coming in Week 2 at Golden West College. Since then, the Tigers have won nine straight games.

RCC had one of the biggest comebacks in SCFA postseason history last week against No. 3 San Diego Mesa College. Riverside trailed 27-0 at halftime and erased a 30-0 third-quarter deficit with 37 unanswered points to pull out the amazing 37-30 come-from-behind win.

Quarterback Brady Jones threw for 402 yards in the contest. He is having a monster season and currently leads the state in passing yards (4125 yards), TDs (43), and yards per game (375.0).

Mt. SAC and Riverside met in last year's SCFA semifinals in a game that was won by the Tigers, 51-48 in Walnut.

The winner of Saturday's game advances to the 3C2A State Championship on Dec. 14 at the site of the Northern California champion. No. 1 College of San Mateo (10-1) hosts No. 3 Modesto Junior College (9-2) in the NCFC Championship at noon.
