MARAUDER FOOTBALL LOSES IN OVERTIME - 41-38; SHEPHERD BREAKS RECORD

In a wild back and forth game, Marauder Football took the lead in the fourth quarter, lost it, tied the game with 28 seconds left and finally lost in overtime at Santa Barbara 41-38.
It was the third straight win for the Vaqueros over the Marauders.
Blake Shepherd, who threw for 385 yards on a 24 for 39 night, twice hit Alex Byers for scores – including the score that put AVC out in front at 31-24 with 10:25 to play. Byers caught five passes for 119 yards on the night.
For Shepherd, he breaks the Marauder Season Passing record with 2360 yards so far this season, taking over Jamar Culver in the top spot. Culver threw for 2346 yardc in 2002. He already owns the Marauder single game record
Overall AVC had the better offensive night gaining over 500 yards for the fifth time this season – 546 yards to the Vaquero's 490.
But the Vaqueros returned the ensuing kickoff to tie the game and scored again with 5:11 left.
Shepherd then drove the Marauders 75 yards in 16 plays, scoring himself from three yards out to tie the game with 28 seconds left.
AVC could not score in the overtime, and Shepherd was sacked on their fourth down try. It was the fifth sack of the night for the Vaqueros.
The Marauders we able to get to the Vaqueros' quarterback only once – by Anthony Beko, but Matthew Mazas with 14 tackles and Graeson Vereen with 11, dominated the defensive side of the ball.
Santa Barbara scored a field goal on their possession to end the game, marking the third straight overtime loss, and puts their overall overtime record at 1-4.
