VALLEY GLEN - The Marauder football team had one of its most impressive victories of the season after easily handling LA Valley College, 37-14, Saturday evening at LA Valley College.
"Our defense is playing so well right now. Turan Rush had probably one of the most dominating performance I have seen," AVC head coach Perry Jehlicka said. "I thought our defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage. We're playing really good team football. Anytime you can get on the bus and come home with a 'w' it's always a good thing."
The Marauders' (5-3, 3-0) defense forced the Monarchs (4-4, 1-2) to commit six turnovers, two of which resulted in touchdowns.
"Anytime you have a 6-0 advantage in turnovers, you should win the game fairly dominating," Jehlicka said.
In addition to the two touchdowns that the defense accounted for, AVC's offense resulted in two other touchdowns and three field goals by Dylan Moghaddam. Armani Edden tossed two touchdown passes, one to Jordan Wayne and the other to Paris Jones. Edden has thrown 16 touchdown passes, which ties him for 12th in the state in touchdown passes.
"I thought we played a complete game offensively and defensively. This is what we wanted to put ourselves in a position for," Edden said. "Everybody has been coming together as a team and rallying together. This was a big road win for us and we're feeling really confident. I feel like we're getting better each week and the defense has been ballin' out."
The victory sets up a showdown on Saturday evening at home at 6pm against the other undefeated conference team, Allan Hanncock College, a 44-34 victor against Pierce College. The game will hold at least a share of the conference championship.
"I thought we played our most complete game this season," Edden said. "We're feeling real confident (entering the Allan Hancock game). We're feeling really strong."
