Roadrunners Fall Short in Shootout With Antelope Valley

PALM DESERT, Calif. - College of the Desert football came up short in a back-and-forth shootout with visiting Antelope Valley Saturday evening in Palm Desert, as they fell 48-42.

Sophomore quarterback Stephen Johnson II (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Los Osos HS) served as the main catalyst for the Desert offense, passing for 361 yards while completing 35-67 throws.  He notched four touchdown passes, three of which were caught by sophomore wide receiver Marquis Kingery (Carmel, CA/Carmel HS).  Kingery tallied three catches for 40 yards on the night.

 
Freshman wide receiver Reginald Macon (Fort-Worth, TX/Boswell HS) caught 12 passes for 133 yards, while freshman running back Anthony Ellison (Banning, CA/Banning HS) rushed seven times for 46 yards and two touchdowns.  

 
Sophomore cornerback Zeriam Jackson (Chicago, IL/Brooks HS) led the way on defense with nine tackles and a forced fumble, as sophomore defensive lineman Adden Howard (Chicago, IL/Curie HS) clogged up the line with three tackles and 1.5 sacks.  

 
College of the Desert (0-3) will open conference play next Saturday, September 26 when they travel to San Diego Mesa for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
