No. 17-ranked Citrus College took on its third ranked opponent in four games and grabbed a 31-26 victory to spoil No. 19-ranked Cerritos College's Homecoming game.

The Owls improve to 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the National-Central League. The Falcons drop to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference.

Citrus finished with 425 total offensive yards – almost double Cerritos' 225 total offensive yards – including 281 passing yards and 144 rushing yards.

Jack Benson was 8-for-15 for 165 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while Koy Riggins was 7-for-10 for 80 yards. Jesse Carmona also threw one touchdown on two attempts.

Kannon Katzer continued to be an offensive threat for the Owls, finishing with 131 yards on 22 carries with two rushing touchdowns. He also had four catches for 100 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Owls came out strong and grabbed a safety in the first quarter after forcing a fumble in the Falcons' redzone to spark 31 unanswered points for the visitors.

Chandler Carthan had 10 tackles, including an eight-yard sack and 3.5 tackles for loss, and grabbed an interception and returned it for 18 yards. Joshua Garcia and Jonathan Calderon added seven tackles, while Hunter Corbin also grabbed an interception for the Owls.

Citrus returns home to close out the month of October with a 1 p.m. kickoff against East Los Angeles on Oct. 28.
