COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AS MARAUDERS LOSE TO BAKERSFIELD

AVC Football fell to 1-3 on the season after losing a close battle 19-22 to Bakersfield College at home on Saturday.
The Renegades struck first and scored the only points in the 1st quarter to take a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. The Marauder tied it at 6-6 early in the 2nd quarter after an 86-yard touchdown run by Alveyon Rankins. Bakersfield blocked the extra-point attempt and ran it back for a 2-point conversion and an 8-6 lead. They then went up 15-6 after a passing touchdown just before halftime.
The Marauder pulled within two in the 3rd quarter when Sharmon Rester rushed for a 24-yard touchdown.
The Renegades bounced back on another TD pass with just under 7 minutes left in the final quarter. Bakersfield's defense held tight until under a minute left when Sharmon Rester threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Daniels. Rester finished with 84 yards and a touchdown in the air, as well as 55 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.
Down 19-22, time ran out on the Marauders, giving them a conference loss and a 1-3 record. AVC's defense was led by Tj Graham, who had 8 total tackles on the night.
The Marauders are on the road against Canyons next and then have a bye on October 7.
