D’Entremont leads Rustlers in dominant win

Saturday afternoon featured the "Chris d'Entremont Show" as the sophomore quarterback led Golden West to a 41-6 victory over Grossmont at LeBard Stadium.

Both teams had trouble getting started as the score was 0-0 at the end of the first quarter. Towards the end of the quarter, Golden West (3-1) mounted a 42 yard drive and scored by way of a d'Entremont 1-yard pass to Justin Norbeck in the first minute.

This was just the start of the "Chris d'Entermont Show" as he would connect with Zimari Manning for 9 yards and the take one in himself for 2 yards. Grossmont almost score at the end of the half, but its 24-yard field goal attempt was blocked with 1:17 remaining and the Rustlers ran out the clock.

The Rustlers put on a clinic from the defensive side that included 1 interception a piece for Freddie Mora, Charles Stevens and Dalis Bruce. Grossmont was limited to 204 yards passing, 123 yards rushing and 6 points.

Golden West received the kickoff to start the second half and took full advantage. D'Entremont evaded multiple defenders and found Manning for 28 yards to make the score 28-0. Grossmont was finally able to get on the board courtesy of a 1-yard run by David Solomon capping off a 69-yard drive. The Griffins did miss the extra point and that was all the scoring for the away team.

Golden West would score two more times. The first was d'Entremont's fourth scoring pass of the afternoon, a 6-yard swing pass to Johnny Hills, and the second was a 1-yard run from Jonathan Thomas as the backups were summoned.

With his 4 touchdown passes, d'Entremont extended his season total to 16 and his season passing yards to 1039. Manning's 2 touchdown catches brings his season total to 11.

Golden West will play a pivotal game next Saturday against Fullerton at Yorba Linda High.
