SBVC Football rolls over the Roadrunners, 45-23

SBVC (3-2; 1-1) got back onto the winning track in a big way, shattering a 63 year old record and taking back the Schukart Trophy for the first time since 2006, after knocking off the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (2-3; 1-1), 45-23.

Freshman defensive back Kevin Stephenson (Rialto Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower) grabbed a 96 yard interception return on the first COD drive of the game which was the longest interception return without a touchdown in SBVC History. The previous record of 82 yards against Pomona College held by All-State football player & SBVC Athletics Hall of Famer Perry Jeter in 1951. A special thanks goes out to SBVC Athletics historian and former SBVC faculty member, Roger Schmidt for that information.

Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Gibbs (Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos) had nine catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns on the night, with a long of 34 yards and an average of 15.3 yards per catch in the victory. Freshman quarterback Daniel Epperson (Phelan Serrano) went 19 for 31 with 261 yards passing and two touchdowns in a second straight start.

Freshman kick returner Demetre Ramos-Davis (Riverside John Wesley North) had three kickoff returns totaling 136 yards including a long of 63 yards and sophomore defensive back Angel Delgado (Fontana Henry J. Kaiser) grabbed nine total tackles, including six solo, caused a forced fumble, broke up two passes and took a 34-yard interception return to the house, in a pick-six that sealed the victory over the Roadrunners.
